Cities are environments in which their inhabitants carry out a large part of their personal, family, professional and leisure activities. All of these activities involve travelling within the urban space using some form of transport. Managing citizen mobility therefore becomes a challenge for city planners and a right for individuals.

The general purpose of this project is to analyse the travel data generated by users of the shared bicycle service in the city of Valencia and other complementary information added later, from the socio-environmental, urban planning and health perspectives. This general purpose is committed to a gender perspective since women are considered a ‘key indicator’ (indicator species) of the overall quality of the shared bicycle service.

The use of bicycle-sharing services is associated with various social, urban and environmental benefits that also have positive consequences for the economy and people’s active lifestyle. It is considered one of the key elements of sustainable, clean and healthy mobility of the present and immediate future, especially highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
